BONGBONG MARCOS INTERVIEW IN TONI GONZAGA’S VLOG – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. spoke during an interview with actress-vlogger Toni Gonzaga.
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, there are already celebrities who joined the vlogging arena on YouTube. However, the new normal brought by the pandemic ignited more stars to be present in the online platform. One of the actresses who set up her own channel is Toni Gonzaga, the Toni Talks.
The Toni Talks has gathered several people coming from different walks of life with the generosity to share their story and their views about certain things in life, in the government, in the society, etc.
Toni Gonzaga has also interviewed some of the biggest figures in different fields like Pres. Bongbong Marcos. During their first interview, Marcos Jr. was yet to win the presidency.
Recently, Toni Gonzaga did another vlog interview with now Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The interview for the vlog was conducted in Malacañang Palace, the home of the President for the next 6 years.
During the President Bongbong Marcos interview in Toni Gonzaga’s vlog, he spoke on several issues like his being the Department of Agriculture Secretary. According to him, he really wants to boost the economy of the country by pushing for the growth of the agriculture industry. He believes that the value chain of the agriculture production has to be changed in the pursuit for cheap and affordable food for the Filipinos. He stressed that it is possible that rice will be sold at P20 – “Everything is possible,” he expressed.
According to him, he wants to be the transformative leader. He stressed that the people has suffered so much for more than two years already amid the pandemic. He also revealed that the government is pushing for another campaign to encourage the people to get their booster shots.
Pres. Marcos also said that he does not see any reason that the Philippines should rejoin the International Criminal Court (ICC). He believes that ICC is supposed to take action if the judiciary system of a nation is no longer functioning. According to him, he does not see what role is the ICC going to play in the country.
During the President Bongbong Marcos interview in Toni Gonzaga’s vlog, the President also reacted to the issue about the alleged unpaid P203 billion estate tax of his family. According to him, they were never allowed to argue as they were in U.S. when the case came out. He challenges his accusers to open the case so they can speak their side. He stressed that they will really speak on the alleged properties one-by-one. He claimed that most of those taxed properties are not theirs.
Marcos Jr. said that he is not hurt when he is addressed as the “son of dictator” because it is not true. He also debunked the claims that his late father declared Martial Law to stay in power. According to him, with regards to issues about the alleged history revisionism, he has no plan of changing the textbooks in the country if they are containing facts. He stressed that the history speaks about the side of the victors and claimed that it was the government that fell during his late father’s time.
When asked about his dream for the Philippines, the President answered “equality”. He also shared that among the things that deeply affects him are seeing poor and innocent people suffering like the children who have to work at a young age for food.
During the interview, the President went emotional when he was asked what he told the late former Pres. Marcos Sr. when he visited him after winning the election.
“You should be here. This is yours,” the President said referring to his statement to his late father.
In tears, the President recalled that he told his late father that it was his and his mother’s good work that brought him to where he is. According to him, he asked his dad not to leave him as he is going to need his help. He assured the former President that he has nothing to worry and he will use everything he learned from him to continue his work.
