What’s next for Tito Sotto?
Veteran politician Tito Sotto has said his farewell to the Senate during his last speech for the last session of the 18th Congress.
Tito Sen, as he is fondly called in showbiz, paved his way in politics and proved that he can serve his fellow Filipinos even though he is from the entertainment industry.
He ran for vice president in the 2022 election as the running mate of Senator Ping Lacson. This year, he is saying goodbye to the Senate. Based on the article in PEP, during his speech, Sen. Tito Sotto shared his advice to the incoming senators in the 19th Congress.
“Maintain the integrity and the independence of the Senate. Huwag ninyong payagan na mabahiran ng pulitika ang inyong serbisyo sa taumbayan. Ingatan ninyo ang respetong ibinigay ng bawat Pilipino sa Senado at sa mga miyembro nito,” the veteran politician said.
He also shared the legacy he wants to leave when it comes to being a showbiz personality and a government official for a long time.
“When the time comes that my humble name will have to be ensconced and chiseled into the annals of the Senate history, I want to be remembered as Vicente Sotto III, a musician by profession, a sportsman by affiliation, a drug buster by vocation, and a public servant by conviction. Salamat, mabuhay!” Tito Sen said.
After his term, PEP entertainment columnist Jojo Gabinete said that people are now asking if he will return to Eat Bulaga, especially the fans of the longest-running noontime show in the Philippines who are expecting the TVJ trio will be complete again.
Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon are the pioneer hosts of the Kapuso noontime show that has been airing for more than 40 years now. “Marami ang nakakapansing nababawasan na ang interes ng publiko sa longest-running variety show ng bansa kaya panahon na para bumalik ang dating senador at dapat madalas nang napapanood sa Eat Bulaga! ang tatlong poste at original hosts ng programa,” the columnist said.
