PH Starts Vaccination of Kids Aged 5-11 against COVID-19

PH Begins Roll Out of COVID-19 Vaccines for Children 5-11 Years Old

PH – The Philippine government and health authorities started the vaccination of children between 5-11 years old against the COVID-19.

The Philippines is boosting its fight against the spread of COVID-19 through the vaccination program and the practice of minimum health protocols. Recently, several cities in Metro Manila experienced another surge in the case following the holiday season.

For the whole month of January, Metro Manila and several other areas outside the capital region with high COVID-19 cases were under Alert Level 3. Meanwhile, the health authorities confirmed that the cases in Metro Manila have peaked and are going on a downward trend now leading to the easing of the measure to Alert Level 2.

The vaccination against the COVID-19 virus continues. It is now open to the adult population and some fully vaccinated individuals, most especially the healthcare workers, have already received their booster shots.

COVID Vaccination for Kids

Recently, PH also started its vaccination of children aged 5-11. Pfizer came up with a vaccine concentration that is made specifically for the said age group.

Initially, the giving of the jabs for kids aged 5-11 was set to start last February 4 but it was moved on February 7 due to logistical challenges. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, several vaccination sites in PH were prepared to entertain kids with different activities and ease the sting out of the jabs.

Some vaccination sites had mascots that entertained the kids while others played movies. Chocolates and happy meals were also given to children in some vax sites while other sites allowed kids to receive their jabs and have a photo with their favorite superheroes.

With regards to the vaccination of kids aged 5-11 in areas outside Metro Manila, PH authorities set it to start on February 14, The vaccination is not mandatory and the parent’s consent is needed before the giving of the jabs.
