Jose Rizal Manga: Japan Unveils Signed Copies About Filipino Hero’s Life

Jose Rizal Manga – The life of Filipino hero Jose Rizal was illustrated by writer Mr. Takahiro Matsui and artist Mr. Ryo Konno and the signed copies of this was recently unveiled.

The said manga (Japanese comic book) was first launched in 2018, on the birthdate of Rizal on June 19. Throughout the years, the story of the hero has been passed on through academic institutions and other entities that value his contribution to his beloved country.

Through this new approach in retelling the life of the Filipino people, it was expected that it would have a greater appeal for the younger generation. Torico Co. Ltd. chief executive officer Takuro Ando, the person behind the company that published the manga online, said that his curiosity prompted him to research the Filipino hero, based on the article in Inquirer that was published in 2019.

“I caught sight of a bronze statue of José Rizal in Hibiya Park, and began to wonder why a bronze statue of a Filipino was in Japan,” Ando said and after asking around, he realized that Rizal is a good vessel to bring the manga to Filipinos all over the world.

The Jose Rizal Manga was published in two languages in order to introduce the Filipino hero to Japanese and to introduce the manga to Filipino people. In a recent report from Inquirer, it was said that Japan has unveiled signed copies of the manga about the life of the Filipino hero.

The copies that contain the key details of the life of Rizal were signed by writer Mr. Takahiro Matsui and artist Mr. Ryo Konno. Matsui said that through this, they aim that children of Filipino descent living in Japan will be inspired by the life of Jose Rizal.
