Residents Call Out Local Gov’t, Complain Against Alleged Ammonia Leak in Navotas City
Residents of Road 10, Navotas City call out local government to take action against the possible ammonia leak in their area.
Some residents were concerned and complained after smelling filthy smoke owing to an alleged ammonia leak Friday night, according to a DZRH report. Residents left their homes right away to report the occurrence.

Authorities arrived quickly to assess the scene. There was no ammonia leak, according to Mayor Toby Tiangco. They inspected the alleged plant that emits the terrible odor, according to the Mayor.
When they arrive, however, the plant is already closed, with no operations and no odor. If it’s not just the vapor or the smell of ammonia that’s left, he says there’s a pipe there that doesn’t contain ammonia, according to Mayor Tiangco.
“Unang una may nag report kasi sakin na may supposed leak noh, so yung una kong pinuntahan is yung planta mismo, kasi dapat yun sarado eh. Pagdating naman natin doon, sarado naman talaga siya, walang operations at pagdating natin doon, wala ding amoy doon,” he said in an interview with DZRH.
“May isang tubo doon na hindi naman ammonia ang laman kung hindi yung vapor na lang, o yung amoy ng ammonia ang natitira. Eh dahil hindi nila pwedeng pasukin, hindi naman rin makikita yun kondisyon. So yun yung nagleak na tubo, so vapor lang ng ammonia yun,” he added.
