According to the BOC, the shipment was declared as a letter. Upon physical examination, however, it was discovered to contain ecstasy tablets with a market value of P170,000.

As a result, the package’s consignee, who was carrying an illicit narcotic, was detained. For violations of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Drugs Act, and Republic Act 10863, the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, the claimant, and seized drugs were given over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for custodial investigation and inquest.

In Taytay, Rizal, the BOC also arrested a claimant of a parcel labeled “wedding dress” that contained P3.8 million worth of ecstasy tablets. Meanwhile, in a raid in Pasay City, BOC confiscated counterfeit items worth P2.5 billion.

The products were confiscated at One Logistics Center on Taft Avenue Extension by authorities. During the checks, “potential intellectual property right (IPR)-infringing” commodities and suspected imported counterfeit products were discovered. Numerous items carrying the trademarks Christian Dior, Gucci, Channel, Louis Vuitton, and Fendi, to name a few, are found in an initial inventory of the goods held at the logistics center.
