Illegal Recruiter Offering Overseas Job to a Nurse in Exchange of P600k Arrested
Authorities arrested an illegal recruiter in Cagayan after she allegedly offers an overseas job to a nurse in exchange for P600,000.
According to the allegation, an unlawful recruiter asks P600,000 from a nurse in exchange for the promise of work in another country. Authorities nabbed Ryan Dexter John Lagmay, alias Gibson Muanjit, 44, of the aforementioned town’s Barangay Dibalio.

Sta. was able to apprehend the suspect. In their place are the Praxedes Police Station, Claveria Police Station, Cagayan Provincial Police Office, Regional Intelligence Unit 2, Provincial Intelligence Team Cagayan, 1st Mobile Force Platoon, 2nd Cagayan Police Mobile Force Company, Regional Intelligence Unit 14, and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Baguio City.
Last August 6, Presiding Judge Jorge Manaois Jr. of the Regional Trial Court First Judicial Region, Branch 10, La Trinidad, Benguet issued an arrest warrant in the matter of “Illegal Recruitment Committed by Syndicate” or violation of Republic Act 8042. Nurse Jeremiah Samdao of La Trinidad, Benguet, brought the case to light.
The victim claims that the suspect is demanding P664,387.00 in exchange for a job offer as a nursing aide in Quiron, Barcelona, Spain. From November 4, 2020 until May 12, 2020, the suspect allegedly demanded money for medical expenditures, visa fees, broker fees, embassy fees, training, and plane tickets, among other things.
Lagmay did not have approval from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to recruit individuals to work abroad, according to Lt. Col. Andree Abella, spokeswoman for the Police Regional Office-Region 2. Lagmay’s temporary release was not recommended by the court.
