Heartless Scammer Deceives Family Desperate to Get Blood for Loved Ones
A scammer pretended as a blood donor and asked money from a desperate family who badly needs blood for their loved ones.
A 54-year-old COVID-19 patient identified as alias “German” has been already at a critical condition in the hospital for over two weeks. The family looked for AB+ blood online for their patient who needs blood transfusion.
The patient’s daughter contacted blood banks for available AB+ but the blood type is rare and not yet available during that time. She decided to seek help online and a certain netizen volunteered to donate.
After giving the details and information, the scammer asked for transportation allowance and other expenses before the blood extraction. She immediately send P5, 000 hoping that the donor could save her father’s life.
Unfortunately, the supposed blood donors did not come to the hospital for blood extraction and the scammer’s account is now inactive.
“Noong nai-forward ko na ho sa kanila ‘yung detalye ng pagdo-donate ng blood nila, doon na po sila nanghingi ng kung paano ang transportation nila, Since that time sobrang natataranta na po ako, at naisip ko rin na baka wala silang pamasahe papunta roon sa ospital, agaran ko silang binigyan ng allowance para lang makapag-donate sila,” the lady reiterated.

The Philippine National Police has also warned the public regarding similar modus. The authorities said that a lot of scammers were pretending as blood donors to earn money in an instant.
Luckily, a lot of donors arrived at the hospital to donate blood after discovering the family’s situation.
