DepEd Says It Hopes To Address Learning Gap As It Readies For Face-To-Face Classes
DEPED EDUCATION GAP – The Department of Education (DepEd) readies itself to conduct face-to-face classes this school year 2021-2022.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the education system in the Philippines shifted to online and modular classes. As such, millions of students and teachers had to transition into a new platform that many would say was unfair.
For many Filipinos, technology such as laptops and phones were a luxury. Because of this lack of technology, a gap in education for some students was present throughout the pandemic.
With this in mind, DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan stated that in-person classed could help students lacking gadgets amid the planned blended “distance-learning” system.
Ang kadahilanan rin kaya pinaghahandaan ito, alam natin na yung pag combine ng face-to-face classes dito sa distance learning ay mahalaga para ma-address yung mga challenges at limitations ng pure distance learning
Furthermore, he emphasized that having teachers teach students face-to-face would be a huge help for the supplemental education of a child. “Yung nahihirapan sa tahanan, kakulangan ng kagamitan for distance learning, yung mga batang walang gumagabay sa tahanan, yun po ang tutok nito“, he continued.
For the Philippines, the upcoming school year of 2021-2022 would begin on September 13. Moreover, the system for learning would primarily be the “Blended learning” module which utilizes partial in-person lectures, online classes, and modules.
