This is the inspiration for the stunning yellow long gown of Rabiya Mateo during the Miss Universe preliminaries.
RABIYA MATEO – Official PH candidate for the 69th Miss Universe pageant Rabiya Mateo stunning in yellow gown and here’s the inspiration behind it.
Segments of Miss Universe 2020 including the preliminaries were held at Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Florida on Friday night, May 14, 2021, which is May 15 in the Philippines. This is also the same venue where the coronation night of this prestigious pageant will happen.
During the prelims, Rabiya was donned in yellow both in swimsuit and long gown portions which gave the people the assumption that it was made intentionally to complete the colors of the flag. To recall, winning colors of former Pinay Miss Universe titleholders Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray were royal and fiery red, respectively.
The yellow gown she wore is a creation of Dubai-based Filipino designer Furne One Amato. The designer admitted that the sun is definitely his inspiration in making it and filled it with hundreds of Swarovski crystals. He revealed in one of his posts, “The one sided neckline tulle gown is elegantly encrusted with Citrine Swarovski crystals on the bodice cascading to the hem and cape over alabaster Swarovski components, glass beads and paillettes.”
The cape has accordingly added a royalty vibe to the gown and beadwork is inspired from the radiance of the sun which signifies the “positivity and optimism”.
Rabiya will also be wearing another Amato’s work in the grand coronation night. The Lvna by Drake Dustin earrings that Rabiya matched her overall look is also sun-inspired. Jeweler Drake Dustin Ibay shared that it was made out of “the rarest fancy yellow diamonds and highest quality of citrine gemstones crafted in 18kt white gold.”
