PAGASA Releases Flood Advisory For Tropical Depression Auring
PAGASA FLOOD ADVISORY – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned 9 regions as tropical depression Auring may trigger flash floods.
A general flood advisory was issued at 6:00 a.m. and is valid for 12 hours. Additionally, river overflows may occur in low-lying areas and landslides could occur in mountainous areas.
Currently, PAGASA warned that light to moderate rains may occur. However, the weather bureau also warned of possible heavy rains or thunderstorms. As such, it advised the local government to remain alert for possible calamities.
The areas under the advisory are as follows:
- Calabarzon
- Mimaropa
- Bicol region
- Western Visayas
- Central Visayas
- Eastern Visayas
- Northern Mindanao
- Caraga
- Davao region
According to PAGASA, Tropical Depression Auring is expected to make landfall over Dinagat Island, Eastern Samar, or possibly Leyte in the next 8-10 hours.
Earlier in the week, Auring intensified into a tropical storm. As of 4:00 a.m., Monday, tropical depression Auring was estimated at 195 kilometers (km) east of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.
