Alleged Kidnapper, Cohort Slain In Shootout In Botolan Town, Zambales
BOTOLAN TOWN – An alleged kidnapper and his cohort were slain in a shootout against policemen in Botolan Town, Zambales on Wednesday evening.
According to a report from Inquirer, the suspect, identified as Miguelito Corpuz, aged 33 years and a resident of Mauban, Quezon. Had been in hiding at Sitio Alao, Barangay San Juan with his accomplice, whose identity is yet to be revealed.
Police reports show that the authorities attempted to arrest Corpuz at about 11:40 PM, February 17.
However, the suspects resisted arrest and opened fire against the police officers, prompting the latter to retaliate, leading to a shootout, according to investigators.
This eventually led to the death of the two suspects, Retrieved form the shootout were ammunition, two sachets of suspected illegal drugs, as well as drug paraphernalia.
Based on the report, the police reported that Corpuz was allegedly behind the kidnap-for-ransom and car theft incidents.
In a separate news, three men were found dead after they allegedly jump off in a cockpit raid in Davao City.

A raid was conducted at Purok 6, San Miguel, Barangay Gumalang, Baguio district in Davao City. The bodies of the three men were found in various parts of the Davao river.
Thirteen individuals were arrested in the police raid for cockfighting. Police Major Archilles Bargio reported that up to 50 people attended the cockfight. During the raid, people ran away and some jumped into the Davao river.
