4 Suspected LTO Fixers End Up in Jail After Offering Services to Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro

Four suspected LTO fixers have been arrested after offering their services to Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro.

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro is heading to conduct an nspection of dredging activities at the Marikina River when four suspected fixers at the Land Transportation Office approached him.

Mayor Teodoro was in front of LTO office in Barangay Sto. Niño when the suspects apprehended him to offer their services. The police authorities were able to arrest the four but some of their colleagues escaped.

“May pumara sa akin at sinasabi sa akin na LTO registration,” Teodoro said.

The suspects have been identified as Eduardo Distor, Pablo Sermeches, Reynaldo Distror, and Jomar Atanante. The culprits would face charges for violation of Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act.

Marikina police spokesman Capt. Renato Samson said that the LTO fixers are also facing separate charges for not wearing face masks and shields in public, which is considered as a violation of health protocols.

Teodoro explained that the suspects did not recognize him quickly for using an ordinary vehicle. “Kapag ako nandito sa Marikina ordinaryong sasakyan lang kaya ako nahaharang ng fixer,” the mayor added.
