Earlier in the day, RX931’s The Morning Rush started another trending hashtag, #MatapangPeroDuwag. Afterward, Netizens took this as an opportunity to share their thoughts on who they thought was “Matapang Pero Duwag”.
Most of the Tweets started innocent enough with netizens sharing things such as “Matapang magyaya ng inuman pero duwag kapag nahuli ni misis/mama” or “Matapang masaktan sa pagmamahal pero duwag sa lumilipad na ipis”.
Surely, nobody can blame you for being afraid of a flying cockroach, however, some netizens began to call the hashtag “a description of the whole Duterte admin”. Among these people was Human Rights activist Francis Baraan IV.
#MatapangPeroDuwag should be the slogan of the Duterte Regime. Duterte is an expert in chest-beating political posturing. He projects an alpha male political figure image—crime-buster, defender, protector, savior. Kunwari macho—matapang. In reality, duwag—ZERO POLITICAL WILL.
Meanwhile, others believe that Vice President Leni Robredo is the one who is #MatapangPeroDuwag. One netizen even emphasized that Duterte is not a coward that only does “pa cute at nagpapaawa sa tao”.
