One Self-learning Module Will Be Share to 2 Students Says Sen. Pia Cayetano
One self-learning module would be share by two (2), public students, next quarter, says Senator Pia Cayetano during budget debates for DepEd’s budget proposal.
During the budget deliberation in which Cayetano sponsored DepEd’s budget for next year, the senator said that from the current 1: 1 ratio it will be 1: 2 starting in December. According to GMA News, Department of Education’s proposed P562 billion budget for 2021.
“For the first quarter the ratio is 1:1 but in the succeeding quarters, it would be 1:2. What will happen is the modules will be returned, they will be disinfected and then they will be shared with the next student,” she said.
“They are making the best use of the available funding that they have and what it will fit is the 1: 2 ratio,” the senator added, referring to the allocation set by DepEd.

Online module learning is currently being implemented in public schools due to the threat of the existing COVID-19 pandemic. Based on DepEd’s calendar, the first quarter will end on November 28 while the second quarter will begin on December 1 until February 6, 2021.
Meanwhile, Senator Francis ‘Kiko’ Pangilinan wants to know if the P16.6-B allocation will be enough for the printing and distribution of modules to sustain the 1: 2 ratios for the remaining quarter of the current school year to end in June 2021.
“With the current budget, they can sustain 1: 2 and if there are bidders that would come in at better prices then they will be able to improve that,” Cayetano explained.
