Ulysses Hits 56% Of Meralco Customers Causing Power Outages In Several Areas
TYPHOON ULYSSES HITS 56% OF MERALCO – Due to the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, more than have of Meralco’s customers are experiencing power outages.
Ulysses, the fifth Typhoon to enter the Philippines has caused immense damage and severe flooding to several areas in Luzon. Furthermore, Marikina has become the recipient of the bulk of these as the Marika River overflows at 21.9 meters.
Along with the flooding, a massive power outage affecting around 56% of Meralco is also on going. Both communication lines and power lines were damaged due to strong winds and heavy rains brought by the Typhoon.
Meanwhile, according to Joe Zaldarriaga, Head of Corporate Communications at Meralco they are:
“exerting all efforts to restore power soonest despite the constraints we are currently facing. Rest assured that Meralco will continue to conduct restoration efforts round the clock in order to address each and every customer who still have no power supply“
The number of affected costumers have gone up to 3,803,810 which roughly translates to 56% of its subscribers. To assess the situation, Meralco said that residents may call the following numbers in case of any power outage issues in your area:

“Please include helpful details such as Account Name, Service ID Number (SIN), Exact Address, Nearest Landmark, Contact Number and Contact Person”, the power distributer added.
