Marikina Residents Seek Help as Flood Water Rises Covering Their Homes
Marikina residents are now seeking help as the flood water rises due to the heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Ulysses.
On Thursday (November 12, 2020), Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro reported that the water level at Marikina River rises to 20.7 meters. The rising floodwaters in the city causes a heavy traffic congestion along A. Bonifacio Avenue.
Teodoro said that Marikina River peaked at 21.5 meters during the devastation of Typhoon Ondoy in 2009. He also explained that several years have passenger the water level in the river had reached third alarm.
Hanggang first alarm lang tayo. Kumbaga, prepared lang tayo. Pinaghahanda lang tayo,” Teodoro said.
The residents of Kasiglahan Village in Montalban, Rizal are now seeking help after floodwaters covered their homes. Around 30 people have been stranded at the roof due to the rise of floodwaters in Montalban.
