Two Crongressmen Former Actors Voted No on ABS-CBN Franchine Renewal
Former actors who turned into congressman show no support and voted no to the renewal of media giant ABS-CBN franchise renewal on July 10, 2020.
The congress officially junked the appeal of one of the media giant in Philippines ABS-CBN for renewing their franchise. The decision has brought heartbreak and sadness to many station talents, celebrities, employees and avid fans of the network.
70 committee members voted in favor of the resolution to deny the network’s franchise application, 11 against, and with 1 asbstention and 2 inhibitions. Two of the members who are in favor of the resolutions were former actors.
One is Rep. Dan Fernandez, the former “Mara Clara” actor, which starred by Judy Ann Santos and Gladys Reyes. The other was Rep. Alfred Vargas, who started his showbiz career with Star Magic (formerly Star Circle).
Rep. Vargas previously said that leaked tally of votes of lawmakers online is fake. He issued a statement that the report was fake news after his name was listed among those who voted adversely.

A netizen tweeted the names of committee members who voted no the renewal of the franchise. Among the list, the names of the former actors are included.
