72 Out Of 530 DOJ Employees Tests Positive For Coronavirus
72 DOJ EMPLOYEES POSITIVE – Recently, a janitor and a maintenance employee of the Department of Justice (DOJ) were tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Since then, the DOJ had tested 530 employees for COVID-19 using rapid test kits. Of that number 72 were found positive for COVID-19. According to an article from Inquirer, Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra reported 68 employees at the DOJ office in Ermita, Manila.
Meanwhile, four outsourced security officers and maintenance employees are waiting for confirmatory swab tests. As per the article, Guevarra stated:
Many of them immediately underwent swab tests in various government and private hospitals and are now awaiting the results of these tests
According to DOJ Spokesman Undersecretary Markk Perete, the three infected workers will have swab tests taken for confirmatory tests. Moreover, the employees were immediately asked to stop reporting for work following the confirmation,
Currently, there had already been 750 employees of the DOJ that underwent rapid testing with some awaiting results.
The Philippines now have close to 26,000 cases of COVID-19. Along with this, over 1,000 people have succumbed to the virus in the country. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries have almost reached 6,000.
Previously, researchers from the University of the Philippines predicted the country would have at least 24,000 infections come June 15. Now, the same researchers predict over 40,000 cases reported come June 30.
