2 Chinese Doctors Arrested For Running Illegal COVID-19 Clinic For Chinese
CHINESE DOCTORS ARRESTED – Two Chinese doctors were nabbed for allegedly treating Chinese patients positive for COVID-19.
According to police reports, the illegal clinic was found on the fifth floor of a building in Makati City on Tuesday. Furthermore, Police Major Gideon Ines Jr. identified the suspects as David Lai, the head doctor, and Liao Songhua, the assistant.
The arrest was in collaboration with Felipe Albayad Jr. of Makati Health Department Incident Management Team Task Force COVID-19. The team investigated the Goldstar Medical Clinic located at the fifth floor of a building near Sampaloc Street.
Based on an article from Inquirer, authorities previously got word of a Chinese doctor treating Chinese nationals suspected to have COVID-19. Moreover, Inese stated that four other Chinese patients were found within the clinic.
During the operation, authorities seized rapid test kits allegedly used to get coroanvirus results, swab tests, vials, syringe. Additionally, several boxes of Chinese medicine unregistered with the Food and Drug Administration were also found.
Following the arrest, the suspects and the evidence were transferred to the Makati Police Station. Meanwhile, criminal complaints would be charged for the Chinese doctors.
As per the article, the violations of the Chinese doctors were violation of Medical Act 1969 and the Food and Drug administration Act of 2009.
Currently, the Philippines has over 14,000 confirmed cases. Of this number, 886 have succumbed to the deadly disease while over 3,412 have already recovered.
