Shooting Incident In Samar Left With Watchman, Farmer Injured
SHOOTING INCIDENT IN SAMAR – A watchman and a farmer were injured due to a shooting incident which occurred in Samar.
The incident involves three soldiers who were based in the province who allegedly discharged their firearms as they were in a drinking binge on Saturday night.
Initial probe from the Eastern Visayas regional police in Palo town, Leyte shoed that the aforementioned soldiers were having a drinking spree in the residence of a Rogelio Barondo in Barangay San Isidro, Paranas town.
This prompted a village watchman, identified as Marcelino Nacar, to call their attention at around 10 PM.
The aforementioned soldiers, who were said to be from the 46th Infantry Battalion based in Calbiga town, Samar, in return, discharged their service firearms, which ricocheted and struck Nacar’s left hand.
It also injured a farmer, identified as Teodorico Cinco, who happened to be nearby the incident. Cinco received gunshot wounds on his right armpit, left leg and stomach.
The two injured were taken to the Samar Provincial Hospital in Catbalogan City, while the three soldiers fled.
One of the soldiers was identified as Corporal Jover Mabaga.
As per the report, the Paranas police are currently conducting a follow up operation to apprehend the three soldiers.
