Actress Maxene Magalona bravely reveals seeing a psychiatrist for some therapy.
MAXENE MAGALONA – Kapamilya star Maxene Magalona revealed seeing a psychiatrist due to her Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD.
Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or C-PTSD is a psychological disorder “that can develop due to prolonged and repeated interpersonal trauma”. And this is the mental condition Kapamilya actress Maxene Magalona is currently dealing with.
And in a long Instagram post, the actress bravely opened up about her medical condition in hopes that it would end the stigma. Starting, with a thought wondering why people with physical illnesses can go to a hospital for treatment while those suffering from a mental condition have to hide and pretend that they’re just fine, she then followed it by sharing the changes that happened to her.
She was having a lot of stress, dealing with anxiety, episodes of rage, and was experiencing “embarrassing tantrums” but she was then unaware where have all her outrage are coming from. And the reason why she quit on drinking is because when she’s drunk, she’s uncontrollable and becoming violent.
And early months of last year, she decided to see a psychiatrist which she was hesitant to do at first only to realize later on that it’s the best thing she’s done for herself. She used to wear something to cover her whole face as she’s embarrassed if ever anyone sees she’s going to psychiatrist.
“After we figured out what the problem was, I began taking the necessary steps to heal such as regular therapy, daily yoga, meditation and prayer,” she said. And now, standing up to end the stigma, she believes that people should start talking about and not be ashamed of it because they need help and their condition needs to be treated.
