NCRPO Chief Sinas and Other Police Officials To Face Criminal Case Over Mañanita
The Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque on Thursday, said criminal case is being readied against NCRPO chief PMGen Debold Sinas and other officials involved in ‘mañanita’.
A criminal case is set to be filed tomorrow against the Metro Manila’s chief of police PMGen Debold Sinas along with senior police officials who attended the birthday gathering last May 8, during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), said Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque after latest conversation with PNP chief Archie Gamboa.
“Per my latest conversation with Philippine National Police Chief PGen. Archie Gamboa, a criminal case is now being readied to be filed tomorrow against NCRPO Chief Debold Sinas, along with other senior police officials who attended the gathering,” Roque said in a statement.
PNP is also seeking clearance from the Office of the President regarding the filing of administrative charges, presidential spox Roque added, based on the report of Inquirer on twitter.
“Major General Sinas is a third level officer and a presidential appointee; hence, a clearance from the OP is needed for the filing of administrative charges of the PNP. The same applies to the senior police officials who are also presidential appointees,” he said.
NCRPO chief Sinas ‘mañanita’ drew flak online after photos were posted on the Facebook page of the National Capital Region Police Office-Public Information Office where attendees were seen flouting physical distancing and mass gathering guidelines.
However, Sinas already apologize if his mañanita brought “anxiety to the public. He also claims that some photos posted online were edited and some were grabbed from the old post.
