In a video re-uploaded by Reklamador, it would appear that some people gathered to serenade the mayor for his birthday before he blows his cake. Even though they are wearing mask, the visitors of his birthday would reach almost 20 people.

According to the report of Rappler, the town councilor Dickerson Villar, the mayor’s son, was the one who uploaded the photos and video clips of “midnight harana” on May 8. “O, tulog tayong lahat sa kulungan! Dami nating nilabag: curfew, social distancing,” his son said on the video.

The Mayor was seen shaking hands with the visitors one by one with no physical distancing and not even wearing face mask. Santo Tomas police chief Peter Paul Sison was also seen handing the cake to Pangasinan Mayor.

The photos and video has gone viral on social media as many netizens express resentment to the birthday celebration and using the power of position to hold an event without hesitation amid the mass gathering ban due to ECQ.

Here are some of their reactions:

The same date May 8, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief PMGen Debold Sinas also drew backlash online for the controversial “mañanita” or early morning birthday serenade during ECQ. Where attendees were seen flouting physical distancing and mass gathering guidelines.
