Police Father Mourns The Lost of His Child in the While on Checkpoint Duty
VALENZUELA – A police father is now grieving after his son died in the middle of dut as one of the COVID-19 frontliners manning checkpoints.
In a Facebook post of Philippine Star, police and also a father, S / Sgt. Robbie Vasquez, did not reach his six-month-old son alive after passed away on April 27, while he was on his duty as frontliner manning quarantine checkpoint.
According to Task Force COVID – 19 Shield Commander P / Ltgen. Guillermo Eleazar, Vasquez from received a call from his home while he was on duty at the checkpoint in Valenzuela’s boundery and Malabon.
It also found out that his son, who had down syndrome is fighting for its life at North Caloocan Medical hospital. Velasquez immediately told his commander to live and he was allowed to go.
But unfortunately, Vasquez was too late to arrive, his child died due to dehydration. Velasquez was so much depressed without because he didn’t even embrace it in the last moments of his life.
Although the baby was allowed to be brought to their home in Caloocan for just a few days because infant’s death was not COVID-19 and it is hypoglycemia or insulin shock due to dehydration, the Department of Health allowed it. However, friends and relatives will not be allowed to visit as a safety precaution.
