LTO Suspends Apprehension of Vehicles for Hire Used to Cater Call Center Agents After Receiving Criticisms Online
The Land Transportation Office announced the suspension of the apprehension of vehicles for hire, which were used to cater BPO employees.
On early Wednesday morning (April 15, 2020), LTO personnel were apprehending the vans rented by BPO companies to cater the transportation needs of call center agents. The issue garnered various reactions from the online community.
The van operators and drivers temporarily stopped their operation fearing that they would be charged a fine of P200,000 if they will be cause. BPO employees have no choice but to walk heading to their destinations.
Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran is also planning to place the LTO-6 officers under a 14-day quarantine because some of them reportedly came from Iloilo wherein there are cases of new coronavirus.
Recently, the Facebook page TV Patrol Negros said that LTO has decided to suspend the apprehension of vehicles for hire used to bring BPO employees to their workplace and home. The agency suspends its operation after receiving criticisms online.
However, LTO 6 Operations Chief Atty. Allan Sacramento said that operators of vehicles for hire will be given until April 17, 2020 (Friday) to acquire a special permit from Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
