Philippines is now facing a huge challenge – to contain the spread of the COVID-19 or the 2019 novel coronavirus in the country. Currently, there are 202 total confirmed cases according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The health department also reported that the coronavirus death toll climbed to 17. The entire country is now under a state of calamity. The local government units (LGUs) may utilize their funds to fight COVID-19.
The government is calling to the public to cooperate. The authorities advises everyone to stay at home to avoid crowded places where the infection may spread. Everyone is also encouraged to keep themselves healthy amid this crisis.
To prevent the gathering of people and to implement social distancing, several entities have suspended work. Classes are also suspended in schools for the safety of the students and the teachers.
Amid the COVID-19 crisis in PH, recently, Kapuso news anchor Jessica Soho announced that GMA News TV will go off-air. Based on a report on Rappler, there was no specific date mentioned as to until when the GMA news program will be on off-air.
“Sa gitna ng enhanced community quarantine at ng state of calamity sa ating bansa, simula po bukas, hindi muna sasahimpawid ang GMA News o GNTV. Manatili pong nakatutok dito sa GMA para sa news updates,” Soho said.
