2 Repatriates Quarantined In New Clark From Diamond Princess COVID-19 Positive
2 REPATRIATES FROM DIAMOND PRINCESS – The Philippines had seen an increasing trend of confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Recently, the city of Marikina reported 4 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. According to Mayor Teodoro, the new coronavirus patients lived together with an 86-year-old American citizen who tested positive for the disease.
Because of the increase in cases, President Rodrigo Duterte had already declared a public health emergency.
Meanwhile, 2 repatriates from Diamond Princess and a San Jose resident had also tested positive for the virus.
Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, the two repatriates were both crew members of Diamond Princess. Following this, the two were isolated and transferred to a hospital for proper management as per protocol.
As such, contact tracing among the repatriates was already initiated along with the decontamination of the vacated rooms. According to the report, the two began their mandatory quarantine last February 25.
Along with this, DOH Region 3 Director Cesar Cassion stated that a resident of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan was also positive for COVID-19.
The infected patient had already been admitted to a hospital in Metro Manila. However, a contact tracing team is still monitoring close contacts of the patient.
In lieu of this, Cassion stated:
We guarantee preparedness of the retained hospitals in the region to readily manage suspect and confirmed cases while the public is encouraged to continuously practice preventive measures such as hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and social distancing. To protect one’s health and safety is everyone’s responsibility; everyone is strongly encouraged to cooperate and support the implementation of preventive measures against COVID-19.
