Vico Sotto Padlocks Permit-less Chinese Restaurant in Pasig City
VICO SOTTO – Mayor Vico Sotto ordered the closure of a permit-less restaurant in Pasig City.
Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto is the son of showbiz veterans Coney Reyes and Vic Sotto. Lots of people anticipated that he would follow the footsteps of his parents but he chose to provide service for his countrymen.
The 30-year-old politician’s bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Masters in Public Management contributed to his political career. He is considered as one of the most admirable and inspiring politicians today.
On Sunday, February 24, Vico Sotto made a statement on Facebook after the government shut down a Chinese restaurant, Fu Yuan Ji for lacking necessary permits to operate. She shared photos of the shuttered store.
In the caption, he warned other business owners in the city saying, “If you want to do business in our city, you follow our laws.”
Vico Sotto also said he is happy to hear about the removal of the Bureau of Immigration officers who allowed illegal Chinese workers and businessmen in the country. He also offered to help he BI in tracking down and deporting all illegal Chinese workers in the city.
“On a similar note, we are happy to hear about the removal of immigration officers who were involved in allowing Chinese workers to enter the Philippines illegally… just let us know how the LGU of Pasig can help in catching and deporting these illegal workers and businessmen,” he wrote.
Based on a report from Inquirer, the “pastillas” scheme was revealed during the Senate hearing last week. It is a modus in Philippine airports allowing Chinese to enter the country seamlessly. They allegedly pay the immigration officers P10,000.
