Liwayway, which was formerly spotted 450 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte or 325 kilometers east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes, was last seen at 340 kilometers east northeast of Daet as of 10 AM.

A report from ABS-CBN states the weather disturbance is now packed with maximum sustained winds at 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 80 kilometers per hour.

The storm’s trough is reported to bring scattered light to moderate rains with chances of heavy rainshowers over the following areas

  • Batanes
  • Bicol Region
  • Cagayan
  • Babuyan Group of Islands

The following areas will face light to moderate rainshowers due to habagat or southwest monsoon:

  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Occidental Mindoro
  • Palawan
  • Western Visayas

As per the report, the agency further urged residents of the affected areas to enact preventive measures, coordinate with the local disaster offices, and stay vigilant for weather updates.

They further warned fishermen that it’s risky to travel over the coastal waters of Luzon and the eastern coasatal waters of Visayas because of possible rough water conditions.

It is still expected that tropical storm Liwayway will not make landfall over the country and will leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday (September 6) morning as it continues to move northwest at 25 kilometers per hour.
