28 Individuals in Negros Occidental Involved on Vote-Buying Activities Arrested
About 28 individuals have been arrested by the authorities due to vote-buying activities in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
Bacolod City – the police authorities arrest 25 individuals at the town of Moises Padilla in the province of Negros Occidental because of their alleged involvement on vote-buying activities.
Police Lt. Col. Adrian Acollador of the Special Task Force Moises Padilla, La Castellana, Isabela (MOLAI) reported that a total of 28 people have been nabbed but three of them were underage.
The culprits were caught around 11:30 pm on Sunday evening (May 12, 2019) at Rizal Street, Barangay 7, Moises Padilla.
The arrested suspects were found riding a public utility jeepney with a route of Pulupandan-Bacolod from Barangay Udyong heading to the town proper.
Acollador said that 12 sample ballots with P1,000 inside have been recovered by the authorities from other suspects riding a tricycle.
The authorities have also found 600 sample ballots with the name of Mayor Magdaleno Peña together with his entire slate including the names of candidates for national positions.
The 25 accused individuals are now detained at Moises Padilla Municipal Police Station for violating the Republic Act 9006 o Fair Election Act while the three minors have been released.
