How to avail NSA scholarship program?
NSA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – Here are the requirements needed and processes for application to avail the prestigious maritime scholarship.
What is NSA Scholarship program?
One of the most prestigious maritime scholarship is from the Norwegian Shipowners Association (NSA) where they give full support to all the eligible seafarer-aspirants. Their sponsorship to future seamen started way back 1992 and up until now where their program changed the lives of thousands of men and women who were able to avail the program.
Entry Requirements
- 17-23 years old on or before 30 April
- Graduates of Senior High School (K-12)
- Existing college students and tertiary level graduates
- Physically and Mentally fit
- Natural Born Filipino Citizen
- Single
- No derogatory records or was convicted/accused of any crime of moral turpitude
Application Process
Written Exam:
- Pass the written exam that covers Math, Science, English and Inductive Reasoning.
- Bring the following during examination: Pencil (Mongol 2 pencil only), Eraser, Ruler, Sharpener, and Snacks and lunch.
- Wait for results.
Computer-Based Exam:
- This is a half-day exam covering IQ Test and Ability Profiling.
- Wait for results to come out in approximately 1 to 2 weeks. (If not called, follow-up through their landline (02) 779-6830 loc. 134.
Oral Interview:
- This is after passing the examinations. You will have a one on one interview with the facilitator and other persons involved in running the program.
- Prepare the following:
– 1 pc 2Ă—2 picture with white background
– Photocopy of Birth Certificate (NSO Certified)
– Photocopy of recent grades (this may be partial)
– Photocopy of Transcript of Records or class card (if with college background)
Medical Examination:
- You have to get the medical examination in clinics or institutions accredited by this organization.
- Medical fee will be shouldered by the applicant.
(After passing all these processes, you are closer to your dream of becoming a seafarer.)
Courses Offered
- Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation – Deck Officer. Highest rank is Captain.
- Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering – Engine Officer. Highest rank is Chief Engineer.

- FREE Tuition Fee for 1st year and second year.
- FREE Dormitory for 1st year and second year.
- FREE Meals for 1st year and second year.
- FREE Upgrading Training and Courses.
- FREE Leadership Training and Development
- Company Assignments during 1st year or second year.
- 10 Days Structured Shipboard Familiarization (Sea Trip)
- 12 Months Apprenticeship/OJT with allowance
Not Covered By Scholarship Program
- Uniform
- Toiletries and other personal needs
- Your 4th year expenses such as tuition fee, food, and dormitory as you will have to use your apprenticeship allowance

Note: If applicant failed, he can still re-apply for the next school year as long as applicant is still eligible in accordance to the entry requirements needed.
