5 Filipino Seafarers Missing After MV Sincerity Ace Caught Fire Near Island of Hawaii

5 FILIPINO SEAFARERS – DFA reported that there are 5 missing Filipino seafarers who jump off their burning ship near Hawaii.

There is a lot of Filipino seaman who works on a cargo ship that loads and unloads various types of equipment. A seaman’s job is to paint, clean and polish their ship.

They travel to different countries around the world and even has the perks of visiting wonderful places and beaches wherever they dock.

Being a seaman was also hard because they were isolated from all their families and friends for almost a year. They stayed most of the time in their ships and cabins along with their co-workers.

Aside from that, there are dangers a seaman could face during their work including the bad weather, pirates, and troubles on their cargo vessel.

Based on a report from Manila Bulletin, the MV Sincerity Ace caught fire last New Year’s Eve and all of the crew abandoned their ship near the Island of Hawaii.

The cargo vessel was carrying 3,500 brand new vehicles from Japan going to Hawaii. After discovering the fire, the seafarers immediately left the ship.

According to the report, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) gave a statement last Monday regarding the burned cargo vessel.

DFA reported that there were 21 Filipino seafarers worked on the MV Sincerity Ace ship and jumped from the vessel after it caught fire.

Based on the report, only 16 Filipino seafarers were rescued by the passing merchant and the United States Coast Guards. The survivors have already returned to the Philippines.

The ship’s agency told the DFA that they are currently searching for the 5 missing Filipino seafarers.

Families and friends of the missing Filipino seafarers are surely worried sick about what happened. We can all hope that they will soon be found okay.
