3 DSWD Officials Including Undersecretary Maria Lourdes Turalde-Jarabe Fires by Pres. Duterte
DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte fired three (3) officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) including Undersecretary Maria Lourdes Turalde-Jarabe.
Recently, there were lots of changes going on in the government including the agencies and departments. In line with the pursuit of eradicating corruption, Pres. Duterte has placed the Bureau of Customs under military control.
Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff Rey Leonardo Guevarra is now the head of operations in the BOC. According to him, 20 Customs officials have resigned last week.
Recently, a news about another agency in the Philippines has crossed the surface. According to CNN, Pres. Duterte has fired three (3) officials of the DSWD including Social Welfare Undersecretary Maria Lourdes Turalde-Jarabe.
The other two DSWD officials fired by Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte are Mae Ancheta-Templa and Hope Hervilla. It was Assitant Secretary Glenda Relova who confirmed to CNN about the news.
Jarabe headed the Office of the Undersecretary for Promotive Operations and Programs Group. She was an ex-Secretary General of Gabriela.
Templa led the DSWD Protective Operations. She was a part of Forum of Women for Action with Rody Duterte. Hervilla, a former chairperson of Bayan Muna, was the undersecretary for Disaster Response Management Group.
Based on the report, Relova declined to give details regarding the cause of termination of the three (3) DSWD officials.
According to Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdia, it is expected that the new Secretary of DSWD, Rolando Bautista, will compose his own team.
It was in October when the President announced the new DSWD Secretary. He was a Philippine Army Lieutenant General.
