Former Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña, 1 Other Face Graft, Administrative Complaints
ISIDRO LAPEÑA – Former Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Isidro Lapeña and another person face graft and administrative complaints.
Recently, there were several issues wherein the Bureau of Customs or BOC was dragged into. It includes complaints of missing containers. There were also corruption allegations.
The issues undeniably prompted President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to temporarily put the BOC under military control.
In line with the issues being faced by the government agency, a report about former Customs commissioner Isidro Lapeña recently crossed the surface.
Based on a report on GMA News Online, Lapeña and an unidentified person are facing graft and administrative complaints. It is over the 105 missing containers.
It is the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which filed the graft case vs. the former BOC commissioner. The said missing containers reportedly contain ceramic tiles.
Based on the report, the NBI, in a filing composed of 35 pages, recommended that Lapeña and an unidentified person would be charged with violation of the Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, section 3, paragraph (e).
Furthermore, there is also a recommendation that the former BOC commissioner would be charged with “neglect of duty and grave misconduct”.
It was only recently when Ex-Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña was replaced by Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief Rey Leonardo Guerrero.
Based on the report, the former was transferred to the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) the previous month.
As of this writing, Lapeña has yet to speak regarding the graft and administrative complaints against him.
