LTFRB Denies Motion To Stop, Withhold the Approved Fare Increase

LTFRB Denies Motion for Reconsideration Filed by Oppositor over Approved Fare Increase

LTFRB – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) denied the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the oppositor of the approved fare increase.

Undeniably, lots of people are not in favor of the fare increase in jeepneys and buses. Many claims that it is a big cut from their budget considering that they travel everyday.

On the part of the drivers, they stress that there is really a need to increase the fare as the fuel’s price also moves upward. Some of them claim that their daily earnings can’t anymore fit their family’s expenses because of the increase in fuel price.

The commuters and the drivers are undeniably not in the same ground over the fare increase issue but one thing is visible – both parts of the population wanted to make ends meet for their family.

Recently, the LTFRB approved a fare increase in Public Utility Jeepneys in the National Capital Region, Region III, and Region IV. The decision of the board earned a petition from oppositors.

Based on a recent post on the Facebook page of Inquirer, oppositors Arlis S. Acao and Rodolfo B. Javellana Jr. filed a Motion for Reconsideration to stop or withhold the approved fare increase.

LTFRB denied the motion. According to the body, there were scheduled proceedings and all parties were given opportunities to speak prior to the approval of the fare increase.

It is stated in the order released by the LTFRB that Javellana only made known his oppositions after the board has made a decision over the proposed fare increase.

“Rodolfo B. Javellana Jr. is considered by the Board as having no personality to oppose in the instant case.”

Here is the full order released by the LTFRB according to Inquirer:
