Typhoon Jebi & Another Low-Pressure Area Move Closer To The Philippines, PAGASA Says
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that Typhoon Jebi and another low-pressure area are now moving closer to the Philippines.
On Friday (August 31, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released the latest weather updates in the country.
PAGASA reported that Typhoon Jebi was spotted at 2,275 kilometers east of northern Luzon outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Jebi has maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 197 kph.
Weather forecasters said that Jebi might enter the country by Sunday (September 2, 2018) if it continues to move west-northwest.
However, the weather disturbance was not expected to make a landfall but it may enhance the southwest monsoon.
Meanwhile, another low-pressure area was spotted at 630 kilometers east of Guian, Eastern Samar.
The LPA is not expected to intensify into a storm but it would bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.
The weather agency also reported that rainshowers and thunderstorms would affect Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands.
