PAGASA Raises Warning Signals After LPA Turns To Tropical Depression Josie
The new low-pressure area has already turned into Tropical Depression Josie prompting PAGASA to raise warning signals in some parts of the country.
On Saturday (July 21, 2018), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the low-pressure they are monitoring intensified into a tropical depression.
Josie was last spotted at 195 kilometers west-northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur moving towards Babuyan Island Group in Ilocos Norte.
The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of 60 kph moving at northwest direction.
The weather agency has raised tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 over Batanes, Northern Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands, Ilocos Norte, the northern section of Ilocos Sur, Apayao, and the northern part of Abra.
PAGASA forecaster Nico Peñaranda said that Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Zambales, Tarlac, and Nueva Ecija would experience heavy rains.
The state weather bureau has also warned the residents to take precautionary measures for possible flashfloods and landslides.
