Bianca Gonzalez’s Twitter post ignited discussion among netizens.
BIANCA GONZALEZ – The famous female host Bianca Gonzalez created a stirring post about those politicians who cannot admit their own mistake.
“Honest question about lots of news lately. When a public official is/was caught doing something wrong/illegal, when interviewed for a statement, what makes it difficult to just apologize and own up to the wrongdoing?”
This is what the famous Pinay host Bianca Gonzales has posted which sparked an online discussion which talks about one of the societal dilemmas specifically in the field of politics.
“T.G.I.S.” actor Yves Gonzalez, a lawyer and former head of government relations and public policy for Uber Philippines responded, “Liability. If you admit something (in front of media) then it can be used against you as an exception on the rule against self-incrimination. Hence they don’t admit/apologize.”
To which he further added that liability may either be administrative, civil or criminal.
“But if they really did it.. Isn’t it the more honorable thing to do to own up to it? Or is this idea too idealistic?” Bianca added.
“Ideally yes,” answered Yves. “In Japan, as example, honor is super important. Here things are more cynical tho.”
The female host even ran a poll regarding her question With 2,425 votes, 60 percent of netizens voted that they would rather see public officials to issue an apology and the remaining 40 percent voted that they would be satisfied if those officials will explain.
Rounding up the result of the poll, Bianca stated, “A lot of you answered because its admission of guilt. True. Gets. But could it also be kasi we Pinoys easily “forget”? So they are hoping that we’ll “forget” about what they did too?
What can you say about this?
