Bill Gates Thinks That Upcoming Disease Expected To Kill 30 Million People Within 6 Months
The American business magnate Bill Gates thinks that the next disease could kill about 30 million people within six months.
During a discussion about epidemics, Bill Gates said that a new deadly disease could possibly exist within the next decade that would cause a global pandemic.
The Microsoft founder explained that he is an optimist in the room and reminds the public how we are getting better at curing diseases.
However, the 62-year-old businessman explained that the world isn’t making much progress in pandemic preparedness.
Gates said that the people nowadays are always hopping on planes, crossing countries, and continents in a matter of hours.
The philanthropist presented a simulation by the Institute for Disease Modeling showing new flu similar to the virus that caused a global pandemic in 2018, which took the lives of about 50 million people.
The technology genius explained that the world needs to prepare in case of biological threats during wars.
“In the case of biological threats that sense of urgency is lacking. The world needs to prepare for pandemics in the same serious way it prepares for war,” Gates said.
However, Gates said that we’re better prepared now and getting closer to a universal flu vaccine.
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would also offer $12 million to encourage the development of the vaccine.
