Meet Kenneth Clauna, Janitress’ Child Who Graduates As Class Valedictorian
Meet Kenneth Clauna, the son of a janitress who graduated as class valedictorian of the first batch of K to 12 Program in Region 1.
An 18-year-old graduate of Senior High makes his janitress mother Ma. Cristina Clauna proud of him after graduating as class valedictorian of 1, 078 – strong first batch of K to 12 completers.
Kenneth took up Humanities and Social Sciences of the K to 12 program at Mangaldan National High School with the highest grade of 99 and his lowest is 90 as a senior high student.
The valedictorian student dedicates his achievement to his mother who was working as a janitress in Laguna just to provide their financial necessities.
Ma. Cristina Clauna did the biggest sacrifice when their family became penniless after selling their house due to her husband’s brain tumor.
Clauna family is a huge debt due to their hospital reaching almost P1 million prompting Kenneth’s mother to work on the hospital.
Kenneth’s family has to manage their P1, 500 monthly budget sent by her mother and some amount of cash from her aunt.
“There were times that we had little for our food, went to school with no money (baon), no new school uniforms,” Kenneth said quoted by Philstar.
The student said that he would like to take Bachelor of Arts in Communication course possibly at the University of the Philippines in Baguio City hoping to become a good journalist in the future.
