President Duterte Urges Public To Remember Dr. Jose Rizal’s Ultimate Sacrifice, Patriotism
President Rodrigo Roa Duterte urges the public to remember the patriotism and ultimate sacrifice of the Filipino national hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
On Saturday (December 30, 2017), the Philippines commemorates the 121st death anniversary of the Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal who sacrificed his own life for the sake of our country.
President Duterte also gives a message on Rizal Day urging the Filipino people to recognize the sacrifices of the Filipino hero.
“May we take this occasion as an opportunity to recognize Dr. Rizal’s ultimate sacrifice for the sake of our country. Let us reflect on his patriotism as we strive to continue his work of building a more united, peaceful and prosperous Philippines,” Duterte said quoted by Inquirer.
Mr. Duterte also reminded the Filipinos how Rizal denounced greed, corruption, and other social problems in the country.
The president explained that Rizal has imparted his dream for a nation that is free from suffering, injustice, and tyranny even he was already passed away.
Meanwhile, a flag-raising ceremony at the Rizal Shrine in Luneta Park, Manila was led by President Duterte together with Vice President Leni Robredo, Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada and Cabinet officials led by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea in commemorating the Rizal Day.
