BREAKING! 13 More Soldiers Faced Death Amid Firefight In Marawi

Breaking News! 13 more soldiers in Marawi faced their untimely death in an encounter against the terror group.

SOLDIERS – There were 13 reported soldiers who got killed in Marawi during an encounter of the military against the Maute terror group.

According to the news report of the Inquirer, the Armed Forces of the Philippines announced that an additional of 13 heroes added to the list of death in the intense firefight against the extremists.

The spokesperson of the 1st Infantry Division Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera was the one who announced the news in a televised press conference in Marawi City.

However, the military is still under the  consolidation process to determine the number of their men who got injured.

Herrera further said that the militants also had a number of casualties.

The death of the 13 marine soldiers happened just on Friday.

The men were on their way to conduct a clearing operation when they encountered at least 30 members of Maute.

Outnumbered, they were thrown improvised explosive device, rocket-propelled grenades and B-40 projectiles that caused the death of the 13 marines.

Latest death toll listed by the military already reached 58 since May 23.

As being mentioned on the report, the extremists still holds around 100 hostages including the Catholic priest Teresito Suganob.

Herrera indicated, “Our forces will continue to execute operations to ensure we save lives through expedited and deliberate military actions.”

He also stated that there were no civilians who got killed on their airstrike.

According to Herrera, there are still around 200-230 “enemies” remained including top leaders Isnilon Hapilon and Abdullah and Omar Maute.
