Kapamilya loveteam partners Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano stressed that they do not want to be just “DonBelle.”

Donny and Belle’s loveteam is one of the most popular onscreen partnerships of their generation. Together, they did several hit projects that boosted their careers in the Philippine entertainment industry.

However, the loveteam partners also ventured into solo projects, which were well-supported by their fans.

After doing separate projects, it was announced that Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano had their reunion film, Tayo sa Wakas, which is directed by box-office and acclaimed director Cathy Garcia-Sampana.

In a recent interview, based on the article in Pilipino Star Ngayon, Direk Cathy shared that a more mature DonBelle is being showcased in the movie.

It’s a trip of two people para alamin kung talaga bang sila ay dapat matapos na o magpatuloy pa. I can say it’s about someone who wants to reach a dream, pero ano ang gagawin mo kung ang kalaban mo sa pag-abot ng pangarap na yun ay yung taong mahal mo,” the director said.

Direk Cathy also said, “It shows something more complex, and mas mature yung roles nila rito pero at the same time also very grounded.

For now, this movie will be the last project of the DonBelle tandem. Both Donny and Belle wanted to explore more opportunities in their career and they don’t want to be boxed in their loveteam.

Donny and I have been vocal about it na we just don’t wanna be DonBelle, we also wanna be Donny and Belle. I feel like this is the perfect project for it since it shows so much growth and maturity and it requires so much authenticity from the both of us,” the actress shared.

The movie is set to be released on May 27. It will also have international screenings, such as in Australia and New Zealand starting June 11, the US, Canada, and Guam starting June 12, and Hong Kong and Macau starting June 20. There will also be screenings in the Middle East, Singapore, Malaysia, and Taiwan.
