JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith impressed their movie producer and director
Kapamilya star JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith received praise from Regal Entertainment Inc. Producer Roselle Monteverde and director Dan Villegas.
JM and Fyang, known as the JMFyang love team, continues to soar high in the career in the Philippine entertainment industry. Their most recent project is their launching movie Almost Us which is set to premiere in cinemas on May 6, 2026.
In a media conference that was held on April 12, Sunday, the Regal Entertainment producer likened Fyang to Diamond Star Maricel Soriano, who was one of the original Regal Babies.

Roselle Monteverde shared that she was really amused when she watched JM Ibarra and Fyang Smith’s first movie. Direk Dan Villegas shared that he personally chose the love teams partners to be the lead stars of the movie, because he fell in love with them.
“Na-in love ako sa dalawa. Na-impress talaga ako sa Cinemalaya. Alam mo yung one of those times na nagsimula ka sa isang video tapos maya-maya 4 A.M. na pala tapos puro JM-Fyang yung pinapanood mo,” Direk Dan shared. With this, he said that he really wanted to work with the two Kapamilya stars.
Fyang shared that initially, she thought that Direk Dan would reprimand her on the set, but this was contrary to what really happened.
“Sobrang hands-on talaga ni Direk Dan sa lahat ng bagay. Ultimo maliit na bagay, napapansin niya. Super grateful ako na first solo film namin ni JM, si Direk ang naghawak. Ang suwerte namin, sobrang nakakatuwa,” the actress shared.

JM Ibarra also admitted that her felt really nervous during the start of their shoot because he felt that something is being expected from them. With Direk Dan’s achievement as a director, JM admitted that this made him feel more nervous. On the other hand, the actor stressed the had so much fun filming this movie project.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, the love team partners also shared their thoughts on bashing and cancel culture on social media. They said that as much as possible, they ignore the negativity online, but they also consider comments that could help them improve.
