Krystal Mejes Shares Untold Story of Rejection That Changed Her Life

Krystal Mejes Reveals Painful Rejection Before Rising to Fame

KRYSTAL MEJES – Not all success stories begin with victory, and Krystal Mejes proves this with her emotional audition experience.

“Rejection is redirection!” This is the mindset that actress and “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” Kapamilya 2nd Big Placer Krystal Mejes now holds as she looks back on one of the earliest challenges in her career, her unsuccessful audition for the well-known sketch comedy show “Goin’ Bulilit.”

In a candid interview on Kuan On One with Millennial Mom and Kapamilya comedian-TV host Melai Cantiveros-Francisco on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, Krystal opened up about her first experience with a difficult audition. When asked by Melai, “Ang pinakauna mong audition na kung saan nasabi mo na ‘mahirap ang talaga mag-audition?’”, Krystal did not hesitate to answer, “Goin’ Bulilit. ‘Yon pinakaunang audition, Goin’ Bulilit.”

“Goin’ Bulilit,” a long-running ABS-CBN sketch comedy show featuring child actors, is known for its humorous skits, movie parodies, and popular segments like “Ano Daw” and “Use in a Sentence.” Directed by Edgar “Bobot” Mortiz, the show first aired in 2004 and made a comeback in 2024.

Recalling her audition, Krystal shared how she was asked to perform multiple talents in front of the director. “Tapos si Direk Bobot, pinakanta niya ako, pinasayaw ako, pinaarte ako, at pinag-model ako,” she said. However, beyond the pressure of showcasing her abilities, Krystal faced a deeper challenge—language.

“Dahil taga-Samar ako, hindi ako marunong mag-Tagalog at English. Ang alam ko lang ay Waray… tanong sila nang tanong ng ganito, ng ganiyan,” she said. She added, “Ako, parang… hindi ko maintindihan. Waray ako! Hindi ko talaga maintindihan.”

Aside from the language barrier, Krystal also admitted that she was extremely shy as a child. “Tapos noong bata ako, mahiyain ako. Mahiyain ako ng sobra. Like super shy.

Despite the rejection, Krystal found her path elsewhere, proving that setbacks can lead to better opportunities. As she concluded, “It’s called redirection not rejection.”
