Motorcycle Rider Lost His Life After Being Crushed by Fallen Tree
A motorcycle rider lost his life after a large tree suddenly fell on the road in Barangay Putatan, Muntinlupa City.
On Wednesday night (March 11, 2026), a tragic incident happened along National Road and shocked several motorists who were passing through the area at the time.
CCTV footage from the area showed that at around 9:30 in the evening, a large acacia tree suddenly collapsed and blocked the road. The fall happened without warning, leaving drivers and passengers with little time to react.

Some passengers riding a jeepney quickly got off the vehicle out of fear as the tree crashed onto the street. Several electrical wires were also hit by the branches, causing sparks and adding to the panic.
Unfortunately, one motorcycle rider was directly hit and crushed by the fallen tree. Authorities later confirmed that the victim was an employee of a mall and a resident of Las Piñas City.
Emergency medical responders immediately arrived at the scene and checked the victim. However, he had no pulse and was no longer breathing when they assessed him. He was still brought to the hospital, but the injuries he suffered, particularly around his rib area, were too severe.
Aside from the rider, two other vehicles were affected by the incident. A dump truck and an SUV were also hit when the tree suddenly fell. The driver of the SUV shared that they were stopped behind the dump truck when the accident happened, and everyone was shocked by how fast the tree collapsed.
“Nakatigil po kami dyan, nasa likod po ako ng dump truck, noong bigla na lang bumagsak ‘yung puno. Nagulat kami talaga, may sakay pa ako. Hindi ko na po naihatid kasi nangyari na yung aksidente,” the SUV driver said.

According to the Muntinlupa local government, the acacia tree may have been more than 40 years old. While the outside of the tree still looked strong, the inside had already started to rot, which may have caused it to fall even without strong winds.
Local officials described the incident as an isolated case since regular tree trimming and inspections are conducted in the city.
Clearing operations lasted for almost four hours before the road was fully opened again to motorists. The Muntinlupa local government also expressed readiness to provide assistance to the family of the victim and to the owners of the damaged vehicles.
