LTO Summons Driver Faces LTO Action After Stopping on NLEX to Pick Up Dog’s Body
A driver is now facing action from authorities after a video showed a car stopping on NLEX to pick up a deceased dog from the road.
The Land Transportation Office issued a Show Cause Order against the registered owner and driver of a Toyota Vios following the incident that reportedly happened on February 26, 2026. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
In the viral video post by a Facebook page called Cosh’s Chiquitings, the vehicle suddenly stopped along the expressway. A passenger then stepped out of the car and walked toward the road to pick up a dead animal lying on the highway.

While some people believed the act may have been done out of concern for the animal, authorities pointed out that stopping in the middle of a busy expressway can be very dangerous.
Highways like NLEX are designed for fast-moving vehicles, and sudden stops may put both the driver and other motorists at risk. Because of this, the LTO said the action may fall under possible traffic violations such as reckless driving and obstruction of traffic.
The agency temporarily suspended the driver’s license for ninety days. The vehicle involved has also been placed under alarm status while the case is being reviewed.
“Ang lisensya ng sangkot na driver ay suspendido ng siyamnapung (90) araw habang isinasagawa ang pagsisiyasat at ang sasakyan ay ilalagay sa alarm status. Hinihiling din sa may-ari at driver na magsumite ng sinumpaang salayasay kasama ang mga kaukulang dokumento,” the agency said.
The registered owner and the driver were asked to appear before the agency and submit a sworn explanation along with the necessary documents. If they fail to attend the scheduled hearing, the LTO may proceed with the decision based on the evidence already available.
