Grandmother in Negros Occidental Lost Her Life After Being Hit by Speeding Ambulance
A 72-year-old grandmother lost her life after being hit by a speeding ambulance in Barangay Robles, La Castellana, Negros Occidental.
On Wednesday (November 19, 2025), the victim, known only as Lola Maria, was riding a tricycle when she saw her son driving a motorcycle on the road. Wanting to speak to him, she asked the tricycle driver to stop.
She quickly got off and attempted to cross the road, not knowing that danger was fast approaching.

As she stepped onto the road, an ambulance came speeding toward her. The vehicle hit her before she could reach the other side. Witnesses rushed to help, and she was immediately brought to the nearest hospital.
Unfortunately, doctors declared her dead on arrival due to the severity of her injuries.
According to reports from the La Castellana Municipal Police Station, the ambulance was being driven by a 47-year-old job order employee from Binalbagan, Negros Occidental. Police said the vehicle was traveling at a fast speed, making it impossible for the driver to hit the brakes in time when the victim suddenly crossed the street.

PCapt. Jose Michael Muñez, deputy chief of the local police, shared that it was an unexpected situation for both sides. The grandmother crossed without noticing the approaching ambulance, while the driver had little time to react due to the vehicle’s speed.
The incident left the family heartbroken, especially since she only wanted to reach her son at that moment.
