Vilma Santos talked about being a public servant
Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, who is also known as the Star For All Seasons, shared her takeaway from the recent corruption issue.
Vilma is one of the showbiz personalities who crossed over to the political arena. She is already a veteran in both worlds. This year, after taking years of break from politics, she returned and was chosen by the Batanguenos to be their governor again.
Amid the corruption issue because of the anomalous flood control projects, the Batangas governor shared her thoughts.

Vilma Santos said in a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, that she is not happy about this because this problem affects Filipinos greatly. “Siyempre I am not happy. At the end of the day, hindi sila ang namomroblema, Filipino ang namomroblema,” she said
The governor said that she is not being self-righteous and that she is not saying that she is a saint. She is not saying that she is right or that she is the best.
“But the thing is, I am no saint, definitely I am not a devil,” the actress-politician said. As a governor, Vilma said that she has three guiding principles in doing her job as a public servant.
“Follow the law, be accountable to your people, and then be transparent,” she said, adding that following these principles ensures that you are on the right track.
The governor also said that she is trying her very best to do and follow these principles. She stressed that there are several ways a public servant can do his or her job, and this goes for other fields of career.

In the same interview, Vilma Santos also shared that the last time she was emotional or teary-eyed was when she talked to the chief doctors of Batangas.
There are 12 city hospitals in the whole province. “Sinabi ko lang sa kanila, ‘Hindi ako magde-demand, pero sana yung suweldo ninyo naman, sa nangyayari sa paligid natin, ibalik natin yung serbisyo sa tao. Maraming nangangailangan,'” she said.
The actress-politician said to them that they should be thankful they were not the ones who needed medical attention, and the doctors agreed with her, as they know that this is public service.
Ayon kay Vilma, apektado siya sa sitwasyon ng ating mga kababayan.
She is just so blessed in life, but she knows what is happening around and what many Filipinos have had to go through.
“Tapos may mga issue pa na negatibo, na ang balik naman ay sa mga tao, unfair. Sana, I’m praying, and in my own little way, kung ano ang magagawa ko sa Batangas, kahit papaano kinokorek ko. Sana piliin natin yung mas tamang daan,” Vilma Santos said.
